The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 3 PM akst
Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from Thursday
evening through Friday afternoon.

North wind to 30 mph with gusts up to around 45 mph... combined
with cold temperatures over the region... will produce wind chill
temperatures to around 35 below zero through early Thursday
afternoon. Areas of blowing snow will lower visibility below 2
miles at times... with areas of drifting snow along the Haines
Highway.

Later on... snow will move into the area by early Thursday evening and
continue through Friday afternoon. Snowfall of 1 foot or more is
likely by late Friday afternoon.

The Winter Weather Advisory means that cold wind chills... and
blowing snow... will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Exposed skin in the advisory area can become frostbitten in
10 minutes. If you must be outdoors... be sure to cover all
exposed skin.

Travel is discouraged unless it is an absolute emergency.

A Winter Storm Watch means conditions are favorable for the
development of winter storm conditions in and close to the watch
area.

Preparation for this potentially dangerous weather event should
begin now.

conditions warrant.
