This value was in jeopardy on this date in 1982 when a reading of -96 degrees was recorded along an Alaskan highway west of Ft. Nelson, British Columbia. Flood Warning


... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...

The Flood Warning continues for
the Paint Rock river near Woodville
* until Friday afternoon
* at 7 PM Wednesday the stage was 18.6 feet
* minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 16.0 feet
* forecast... the river will continue rising to near 19.0 feet by
midnight Wednesday night. The river will fall below flood stage
early Friday afternoon.
* Impact... at 19.0 feet... water is covering Alabama State Route 65
about two miles north of U.S. Highway 72. Several County roads in
Paint Rock Valley are flooded... including Jackson County Road 20.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 18.5 feet
on may 6 2003.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Tennessee River at Whitesburg
* until late Thursday night
* at 11 am Wednesday the stage was 15.0 feet
* minor flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 17.0 feet
* forecast... the river will continue to rise and reach flood stage
overnight tonight. The river will crest at 17.5 feet around midday
Thursday... and fall below flood stage Thursday night.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet... lowland flooding begins. Some access roads
in the area become flooded.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 18.5 feet
on Sep 19 2004.
