Ask TerriQuestionHow does the tilt of the Earth affect our temperature?
AnswerBecause the earth is tilted as it travels around the sun the northern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun roughly half of the year and the southern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun the other half of the year. The hemisphere tilted toward the sun receives more energy or heat than the one tilted away from the sun. Each hemisphere experiences hotter weather when it tilts toward the sun and colder weather when it tilts away from the sun. We have seasons because of the Earths 23.5 degree tilt. |

Weather HistoryOn this date in 1998, a tropical weather system in the Caribbean Sea and its potentially tremendous rainfall were a possibly welcomed idea to the 110,000 Floridians still evacuated from their homes due to wildfires. |
